Martha Brown is a board-certified chaplain. Ordained by the United Church of Christ, Martha has served in various governmental and private institutions. Her compassion and commitment to social justice advocacy contributed to her serving people in crisis, persons facing challenges, and those in critical need. Martha is an interpersonal communication instructor and has taught courses at the community college and offered seminars in the community.
In October, Brown was a recipient of the NC Governor's Award for Excellence in the category of Human Relations. Martha earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work at East Carolina University and her Master of Divinity Degree from Brite Divinity at Texas Christian University. A creative artist, Martha has used film, art, and music to offer hope, joy, and support. Nicknamed by a coworker, Chaplain Extra, Brown plays as hard as she works. When not living up to her nickname, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling (by plane, train, automobile, or ship), reading, and laughing.
